David Keith “Dave” MILLER, 82, of Wilmington, N.C., died May 31, 2006.

A service and burial with full military honors were held Saturday at Oleander Memorial Gardens in Wilmington.

Mr. MILLER was born May 27, 1924, in Highland Center, the son of Ralph O. and Sarah Harriett “Hattie” Day MILLER.

Mr. MILLER enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during World War II. Separated from the Navy in 1945, he joined the U.S. Air Force in 1958 and served in the Vietnam War. He retired from the Air Force in 1973. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross twice and six Air Medals. He flew 39 combat missions and was inducted into the Air Combat Crewman’s Hall of Fame in November of 2002.

Mr. MILLER graduated magna cum laude from William Carey College in Hattiesburg, Miss., in 1976. He had lived in the Birmingham, Fairfield, Douds-Leando and Libertyville communities.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Constance M. COSGROVE of Mesa, Ariz.; two sons, David B. MILLER of Minot, N.D., and Kenneth A. MILLER of Winnetka, Calif.; two stepchildren, Vernon DURHAM and Pearl HOBBS; seven grandchildren; and nine stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia; his parents; two brothers, Cecil MILLER and Jake MILLER; and two sisters, Esther VAN SKIVER and Cora RAYMOND.
