Herman GREEN, 90, of Keosauqua died at 12:20 A.M. Friday, May 12, 2006 at Van Buren County Hospital, Keosauqua.
He was born June 9, 1915 in Richmond, KS to Oscar and Lozette McKEEHAN GREEN. He married Irene MALPASS June 23, 1940 at her parents’ home in Kuna, ID.
Herman farmed in Idaho and South Dakota and he and Irene moved to their farm northeast of Keosauqua in 1947. After selling the farm he continued to be an avid gardener and enjoyed yard work. He served as a custodian at Stockport center of Van Buren Community School where he will be remembered as the teacher of the pie baking class.
He was a faithful active member of Keosauqua United Methodist Church. God was very real in his life.
Surviving are his wife, a son, Stan GREEN and wife, Jeanette of Des Moines, a daughter, Connie KELLER and husband, Robert of Fairfield, a grandson, Andrew GREEN and wife, Katie of Las Vegas, NV, a granddaughter, Rachel KELLER of Fairfield, a sister, Ruth HAIFLEY of Fairfield, nieces and nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Virginia GREEN in infancy and Helen SWARTZ and a daughter-in-law, Susan HARBISON GREEN.
Funeral services will be at 10 A.M. Tuesday, May 16, 2006 at Keosauqua United Methodist Church, Rev. Bryon Wixom officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Fairfield.
Visitation will open at 2 P.M. Monday at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua with family present 6:30-8 P.M.
Memorials to Keosauqua United Methodist Church or American Cancer Society may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 305 W. Harrison, Fairfield, IA 52556.
