Kenneth F. HOFFMAN, 63, of Indianola, formerly of Ottumwa, died at 11:33 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2006, at Veterans Medical Center in Des Moines.

A funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa, with the Rev. Ed Matthews and the Rev. Harold Baker officiating. Military rites will be conducted by Walter B. Schafer Post No. 775 Veterans of Foreign Wars and O.B. Nelson Post No. 3 American Legion. Burial will be in International Order of Odd Fellows Cemetery in Indianola.

Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with family present from 5-7 p.m. The family requests no perfumes or colognes because of a family member’s lung condition.

Memorials may be made to Bible Baptist Church or Midway Calvary Baptist Church.

Mr. HOFFMAN was born Feb. 21, 1943, in Macomb, Ill., to Van and Esta Brown HOFFMAN. He married Dorothy M. COOP March 19, 1965.

Mr. HOFFMAN was member of the last graduating class from Birmingham High School. He attended Iowa Success School and Indian Hills Community College. He was retired from Louden Company in Fairfield.

Mr. HOFFMAN served in the Army and the Navy and was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy, while serving in the Navy.

Mr. HOFFMAN was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Ottumwa. He also was a member of Disabled American Veterans and Paralyzed Vets.

He was a Minnesota Vikings fan and a Hawkeye fan. He enjoyed bluegrass and Christian music and puzzles.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Steve and wife Amy of Minneapolis, Minn.; three sisters, twin sister Judy DOUGLAS of Burlington, Gloria MILES of Knoxville and Karen VINYARD of Hot Springs Village, Ariz.; one brother, Danny Joe HOFFMAN of Fairfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Richard HOFFMAN.
