Fri., Aug. 4, 2006, p. 8.Willa May HENDERSON, 88, formerly of West Grove, died Thursday, Aug. 3, 2006, at Parkview Care Center in Fairfield.
A service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Henkenius-Priester Funeral home in Bloomfield, with the Rev. Bill Hornback and DeWayne Lawson officiating. Burial will be in West Grove Cemetery.
Open visitation will begin at 1 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to West Grove United Methodist Church or West Grove Cemetery.
Mrs. HENDERSON was born May 17, 1918, in rural Appanoose County near Moulton, the daughter of Emery E. and Bertha L. Leeps HARTER. She married Wally HENDERSON May 2, 1937, at United Methodist Church in Centerville. He died Feb. 6, 1991.
Mrs. HENDERSON was a graduate of Bloomfield High School and Parsons College in Fairfield. She taught at rural schools in Davis County for several years before becoming a homemaker and co-owner of Wally’s Repair. From April of 2000 to January of 2006, she worked part time for Citizens Mutual Telephone Company.
Mrs. HENDERSON was the oldest living member of West Grove United Methodist Church. She served on the Davis County Election Board for several years.
Survivors include one son, Donnie HENDERSON and wife Donna of Fairfield; one daughter, Debbie ROBERTS and husband Terry of Troy, Mo.; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one brother, Wilbur HARTER of Des Moines.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Jim WALKER; one brother, Willis HARTER; and two sisters, Lavina and Lavone HARTER.
