Donald D. CHAPMAN, 77, of Fairfield, died Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2006, at Parkview Care Center in Fairfield.

A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield, with the Rev. Traverce Harrison officiating. Burial will follow in Dibble Cemetery south of Stockport.

Family visitation will be from 6:30-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church youth fund, Dibble Cemetery or Hospice of Central Iowa. Cards and memorials may be sent to 2900 W. Jefferson Ave., Apt. B, Fairfield 52556.

Mr. CHAPMAN was born Feb. 1, 1929, in Batavia, the son of Harvey Levi and Melva Francis CHAPMAN. He married Carol Ann PRATT May 14, 1955, at First Christian Church in Fairfield.

Mr. CHAPMAN lived his entire life in Jefferson County. He graduated from Libertyville High School in 1947. He was employed for 38 years as a maintenance operations assistant with the Iowa department of Transportation.

Mr. CHAPMAN was U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

He was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Fairfield where he was a deacon, trustee, membership chairman and chairman of deacons. He received the Honored Servant Award from his church.

Survivors include his wife; two children, Jeffrey CHAPMAN and wife Carmen of Indianola and Janet CHAPMAN of Albion; and two step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Marvin L. CHAPMAN; and one sister, Ethel M. CHAPMAN.
