Monday, May 22, 2006, Pg. 8.Velma Irene BYCZEK, 88, of Mount Pleasant, died Sunday, May 21, 2006, at Park Place Long Term Care Unit.
A service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church in Mount Pleasant with the Rev. Dr. Edward R. Peterson officiating. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery in Mount Pleasant.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the church, where the family will be present form 5-7 p.m.
Memorials have been established to First United Methodist Church and the American Lung Association.
Arrangements are in the care of Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel of Mount Pleasant.
Mrs. BYCZEK was born June 11, 1917, in Mount Union, the daughter of Guy L. and Nettie Peterson ANDERSON. She married Ivan D. BYCZEK Nov. 16, 1962. He died Feb. 12, 2001.
Mrs. BYCZEK was a 1934 graduate of Pleasant Lawn High School. Prior to her marriage, she was employed at Princess Candy Kitchen, Hoaglin’s Department Store and Brown Lynch Scott in Mount Pleasant. Following her marriage, she worked with her husband on the family farm.
Mrs. BYCZEK was a member of First United Methodist. She was a former member of the Mount Pleasant Crystal Rebekah Lodge No. 45 and Glasgow Dorcas Society.
She enjoyed birds, sewing, making quilts and entertaining her friends.
Survivors include two stepson, Robert BYCZEK and wife Kate of Mount Union and James BYCZEK and wife Marilee of Fairfield; one stepdaughter, Mary and husband Leon WITTMER of Maple Grove, Minn.; three stepgrandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Dale ANDERSON.
