Dorothy Elizabeth BAUER, 99, of Washington, Iowa, died Thursday, Oct. 26, 2006, at Halcyon House in Washington.

A funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Jones-Eden Funeral Home in Washington, with the Rev. Julia Poulsen officiating. Interment will be in Elm Grove Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at noon Monday at the funeral home where the family will be present from 6-8 p.m.

Memorials have been established to United Methodist Church or Halcyon House Good Samaritan Fund.

Mrs. BAUER was born March 1, 1907, in Noble, the daughter of Edward and Sophia Davidson RINNER. She married Clark Merle BAUER Aug. 20, 1932, at Center Chapel near Noble. He died in 1971.

Mrs. BAUER attended Stringtown School, graduated from Wayland High School in 1924 and graduated with a bachelor�s degree from Iowa Wesleyan College in Mount Pleasant in 1928. She was a teacher and a housewife. She taught school in Olds for four years.

Mrs. BAUER was a member of West Chester United Methodist Church until moving to Washington and joining the United Methodist Church there. She was a member of United Methodist Women Society, Applied Arts and American Home chapters of Fortnightly, Republican Women, Conger House and Farm Bureau.

She enjoyed traveling, sending letters, tracing genealogy, sewing, tatting and making hand crafted cards and gifts.

Survivors include four children, Joy Elaine GILLASPIE and husband Robert of Fairfield, Gene Edward BAUER and wife Jerene of San Diego, Calif., Kenneth Vern BAUER and wife Connie of Washington, Stanley Lou BAUER and wife Connie of Washington; nine grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 11 stepgreat-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Alma Smith ISELEY, Lillian RINNER and Marjorie Jane RINNER; and one granddaughter.
