Fairfield Ledger
June 19, 1878DIED, June 6, 1878, at the residence of her mother, near Fairfield, Iowa, Miss Margaret STEVER, aged years, 7 months and 2 days.
Her's was a life of suffering. Many of the ills of human nature followed one after the other in the round of her years. About four years ago she was deprived of sight; through those years the brightness of the world has been to her only one long night of darkness. But few, even amid health and pleasure, have been as patient, happy and cheerful as this greatly afflicted woman. Her life of patience, so free from murmur, is an example from which everyone may well learn some of the most valuable lessons of human life.
Her last illness was brief and her departurn unlooked for. But her life was such that we known she died in peace, rejoicing in hope. (sic. original text written by:) W.M.S.*Transcribed for genealogy purposes. I am not related to the person(s) mentioned.
Note: The burial location of Margaret STEVER is not precisely known. It is possible that she was buried in either Old Fairfield City cemetery or Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield, but no cemetery records have her burial recorded. A Rootsweb lineage entry has been found for her that has her listed as being buried in Evergreen Cemetery, but that is not supported by burial lot records.
