HE ONCE LIVED IN FAIRFIELD. The body of John IRRER was buried in this city Sunday afternoon. Death took place at Mt. Pleasant, which has been his home for many years, the day previous. Mr. IRRER was for many years a resident and business man of Fairfield.
He was born at Wendelschein, Germany, March 10th, 1827. In 1854 he came to the United States, and in 1857 to this city. Here he entered the employ of Moritz RUKGABER, who was then operating a brewery where the home of Jacob GOEHNER is now located. This employer died within a few years, and in 1864 Mr. IRRER married his widow and succeeded to the business. He managed the brewery unitl it was sold to the late J. G. WEITZEL early in the '70s. After the destruction of this plant by fire, Mr. IRRER built a new brewery east of the city on the Burlington road and had charge of it for some time. He sold out and left this city about 1880. Mrs. RUKGABER died in 1882, and her body was interred here. Funeral services were held by Rev. W. J. Punkey at the home of Mrs. Theresa THOMA, a sister of the dead man. The German language was used. Mr. IRRER was the eldest of a family of six children, and the first to die.
