W. D. GILCHRIST DIED LAST NIGHT. William Dempsey GILCHRIST died last night at his home on South Fifth Street about eleven o'clock, after a lingering illness of tuberculosis... Mr. GILCHRIST was well known in Fairfield, having made this city his home for about thirty-five years. For twenty-one years past he has been employed as sexton of the City Cemetery, only relinquishing that work when ill health compelled him to remain in bed... About 48 years of age; survived by wife and eight children, six of whom are at home. Funeral tomorrow at 2:30 at the Free Methodist Church and interment in the cemetery where he was employed for so many years.

LIFE OF WILLIAM DEMPSEY GILCHRIST... Born in Penn., Nov. 5, 1854, and died at his home in Fairfield, Iowa, Jan. 8, 1912, aged 57 years, two months and 3 days. Came with his parents to Iowa at the age of five years and married, in 1884, Gertie SLIFER at Beeman, Grundy County, Iowa. Eleven children, five sons and six daughters, two sons and one daughter dying in infancy.
Survived by companion, three sons and five daughters -- Lulu MOORE of Hatfield, Mo., Latitia BOYD of Bird City, Kansas, and Laura, Park, Adolph, Ethel, Leslie and Louise and one grandson who reside at home, also an aged mother, three sisters and two brothers. Brethren Church....
