SIXTY YEARS IN JEFFERSON COUNTY. Mrs. Mary M. CRAINE, who died in this city Monday, had spent more than sixty years of her life in this county. She was a daughter of John McCOMB, who came here in 1844, and was born in Washington, County, Penn., March 8th, 1832. She grew to womanhood here, and was married to David TWEED April 5th, 1849. The husband died February 16th, 1862.
Three years later, August 24th, 1865, Mrs. TWEED was married to Evan L. CRAINE, a pioneer merchant of Fairfield. He died about ten years later. Mrs. CRAINE was the mother of three children by her first marriage -- Mary, Robert and William, and of one daughter, Orpha, by the second. All grew to manhood and womanhood and all died from consumption. She was the last member of her family, and no relative closer than niece or nephew survives her. Mrs. CRAINE had been a member of the Congregational Church of this city for many years and was a devout christian woman. She was a most affectionate mother, and the light of the world for her seemed to go out as her children were taken from her one by one. The body will be interred this afternoon at 2:30. Funeral services will be held at the home on West Adams Street, and will be conducted by Rev. H. O. Spelman.
