DEATH OF A FORMER CITIZEN. William DODDS was born in Pittsburg, Penn., February 11th, 1823, and removed to Fairfield in 1855. He was married to Miss Sallie BOGGS in 1845. Six children were born of this union, two of whom are living -- Albert G., now of Alta, Iowa, and Fannie, now Mrs. TAYLOR, of Bethany, Mo.. He was a plasterer by trade and a most excellent citizen. His wife died about nineteen years ago in this city, and he was married to Mrs. HARRIS, by whom he had one child, Bertha.
Mr. DODDS enlisted January 2d, 1864, in Co. F, Third Iowa Cavalry, and served until the close of the war. He left here in 1877, and has since resided in northwest Iowa, his last residence being with his son in Alta. He died at Alta Monday, June 18th, 1894, of heart disease. The remains were brought here for burial Wednesday by his son Albert and daughter Bertha, and interred in the City Cemetery Thursday morning under the management of the Odd Fellows, of which order he had long been a member.
