"Fairfield Ledger", Sept. 4, 1878, Pg. 2, Col. 8
DIED -- At her home, 2½ miles east of Fairfield, Wednesday, Aug. 21, 1878, Mrs. Margaret HUDGELL, wife of Mr. John P. HUDGELL, aged 39 years, 11 months and 27 days.
Mrs. HUDGELL was a daughter of Eli HOOPES, and moved with her father to this county in 1851. In 1853 she joined the Methodist church, of which she continued a worthy and exemplary member during her life. She was married to Mr. HUDGELL in 1859. As church member, wife and mother she performed all of her duties faithfully and hopefully; as neighbor and friend she was kind and generous. In her last hours she ralized the full power of faith in God, and died happily, with a consciousness of a blissful immortality.-- She was a woman whose place in life was well filled, and one whose loss is most regretted by those who knew her best.
