DEATH OF DANIEL YOUNG. Apoplexy. Born at Marietta, Pa., May 28, 1816... Twice married, first to Miss Henrietta GARDNER, who died in 1849. By her he had three children, two sons and one daughter. Of these the daughter died here in 1871....

In 1850 he married Miss Clara BLOSS and in 1851 they moved to Fairfield. By his second wife he has had seven children, two sons, both of whom are dead, and five daughters, who, together with his wife, survive.

Mr. YOUNG was a miller and millwright by trade, which he followed in Ohio and for several years after coming to Fairfield. In 1853 he embarked in the mercantile business here, which business he continued until 1874. The greater part of this time his was the leading store in Fairfield, the business being conducted on a large scale for those days.....

Daniel YOUNG, an old and well known citizen of Fairfield, died at his home in this city Monday morning after a brief illness. Mr. YOUNG was of German parentage, and was born in Lancaster Co., Pa. May 28 1816. He was the third of a family of 10 children, of whom three brothers and a sister survive him. At the age of 14 Mr. YOUNG removed to Preble Co., Ohio where he resided until 1851, being engaged in the milling business most of the time. He removed to Iowa with his family in the latter year, coming to Fairfield Oct. 17. For a year or two he secured employement as a teamster, and in 1853 engaged in the mercantile business in this city. He was a man of great energy and excellent business methods and soon was one of Fairfield's most extensive merchants. This business was conducted until 1873.... In July 1840, in Ohio, Mr. YOUNG was married to Miss Henrietta GARDNER, who died from cholera in 1849. Three children were the issue of this marriage, two of whom, John H. of Lucas and W.H. of this city are yet living. March 21 1850 he was united in marriage to Miss Clarissa BLOSS who survives him. Seven children were born of this marriage, five of whom are now living in this city, Misses Mary, Harriet, Margaret, Susan and Effie YOUNG. Methodist Church. Odd Fellow....
