Former Jefferson County Resident Passed Away In Freeport, Ill.
C. D. GREESON, born March 29, 1859 died in the hospital at Freeport, Ill., yesterday afternoon. He was ill for two years and bedfast since July. He was an old resident of Jefferson county.
Mr. GREESON is survived by the following children, Alex of Roland, Wyo., Mrs. Carl GRIFFITH and Bert GREESON, of Freeport, Ill., and Mrs. A. C. FREDERICK, south of Fairfield. He also leaves the following brothers and sisters: Al, of Fairfield; Will, of Ottumwa; Charles of Richland; Mrs. Baker HANNAH, of Packwood; Mrs. Ennis HADLEY of Richland and Mrs. Al CASSIDY, Colorado.
The body will arrive here tomorrow on No. 9. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:30 oclock from the Hoskins Funeral Home.

Columbus Dayton GREESON, died at Freeport, Ill. May 17, 1932. He was the son of William and Betsy GREESON and was born in Richland, Iowa, in 1857 and was 75 years, one month and 18 days old. Practically his entire life had been spent in Jefferson county. The last two years he has been living at Freeport, Ill., where his son and daughter reside.
In 1878 he was united in marriage with Olive Maria McINTIRE, who passed away March 12, 1923. He leaves to m ourn his loss four children, two sons, Bert of Freeport, Ill., Alex of Rawlings, Wyoming, two daughters Elizabeth FREDERICK of Birmingham IA., and Ila GRIFFITH of Freeport.
He also leaves six grand children and the following brother and sisters: Al, of Ottumwa, Charles of Richland, Mrs. Baker HANNAH of Packwood, Mrs. Enos HADLEY of Richland and Alma CASSIDY of Fort Morgan, Colo.
During his active live he was engaged in farming. He was energetic, honest and a strict observers of the Golden Rule. He was well liked by all who knew him and leaves a host of friends to mourn his loss. He was a member of the Methodist church, Odd Fellow lodge No. 629 and Modern Woodman lodge.
Funeral services were held at the Hoskins Funeral Home May 20, 1932, with Dr. U. S. Smith in charge. Two very appropriate solos were sung by Gus Scott. Interment was made in Evergreen cemetery.

The 1860 Federal Census for Iowa, Jefferson County, Black Hawk Twp., shows Columbus as a 3-year-old as of July 4, 1860, and born in Iowa. His gravestone is engraved with 1857 as the birth year.]
