Dr. Archie Winnitt (sic - Winnett) GAUMER, the son of Solomon and Anna M. GAUMER was born on the home farm near Fairfield, Iowa, Feb. 4, 1878, and died at the home of his brother-in-law, in Quincy, Ill., at 7:30 a.m., July 21, 1920. His death resulted from chronic nephritis.
After attending the public schools he graduated from the Fairfield High School in the class of 1879, following which he taught several terms of school. In June, 1918, he entered the United States Army, being commissioned a first lieutenant in the Dental corps, and was ordered to Camp Pike, within a few weeks the 89th Division to which he was attached, started to France but at his physical examination made at this time, he was rejected for overseas service, and was sent to Camp Dodge where he was stationed until his discharge in January following the Armistice.
Dr. GAUMER then opened a dental office in Des Moines, but was compelled by failing health to give it up at the beginning of the present year.
He was united in marriage to Miss Eda ANSCHUTZ of Keokuk, July 5, 1917, who with his parents, five brothers and two sisters survive him. He was a member of Franklin Lodge, No. 14, A. F. and A.
