Rev. Toothacre Buried Here

Rev. A.R. Toothacre was buried here Sunday afternoon. Death came following a winter of poor health. Early in the winter he was confined to his bed with pneumonia, and after recovering from that illness he fell and was injured.

Mr. Toothacre was born on the home place now occupied by the Edward Weston family, and would have been seventy-nine next September. He had two brothers and two sisters, but M.E. Toothacre of Burlington is the only one surviving.

Following his ordination as a minister, he was called to the Lockridge Baptist church, and preached his first sermon from the local pulpit, where he remained for three years. He was again called here in 1901, and remained a year and a half.

Other charges were in eastern states. In all he had preached the gospel about fifty years.

Funeral services were held in the Baptist church Sunday afternoon, with burial in the Lockridge cemetery.
