"Fairfield Ledger", March 14, 1888, Pg. 3, Col. 3

DEATH OF MRS. HAMPSON. Mrs. Margaret A. HAMPSON, a lady who has resided in Fairfield for many years, and who was well known by all our elder citizens, died at her home in this city Thursday morning. She had been an invalid for many years....

Mrs. HAMPSON was a daughter of James BEATTY, who came to this county in 1848, and resided on a farm east of this city for many years. She was born in Mifflin County, Pennsylvania, December 11th, 1825, and removed with her father's family to this county. On October 2d, 1849, she was married to Evan C. HAMPSON, for many years a well known business man of Fairfield, and who died here June 1st, 1859.

Four children were born to them -- Mrs. R. J. STONER, Caddie and Iowa HAMPSON, who reside here, and James C. HAMPSON of Denver, Colorado, all of whom are living... By the death of her husband the care and rearing of her children were left solely in her hands... The funeral occurred on Monday morning from the Presbyterian Church, Dr. Magill conducting the services. The remains were interred in the City Cemetery.
