DEATH OF "LON" BURGESS. The remains of George Leon BURGESS, who formerly resided here, were brought to this city Saturday for interment. The young man died in Chicago, where he and his mother resided, the 11th inst., from typhoid fever.
He was born at Brighton, and his age was thirty years and twenty-six days. He grew to manhood in this city, a bright, popular lad, and was for several years a clerk in the post office under his father's administration. After leaving here he was in the railway mail service for several years and later was chief clerk in the Sioux City Post Office. Mrs. BURGESS and Mr. and Mrs. N. R. SAGERS, the latter a sister of the dead man, accompanied the remains here and received the sympathies of the many friends who had formerly known them. Funeral services were held at the Congregational Church Saturday morning, conducted by Rev. A. F. Marsh. The remains were interred in the City Cemetery and were borne to the grave by the boyhood friends of the young man who had passed away.
