Mr. and Mrs. Ralph STOUT were called to Fairfield Friday evening by the serious illness of Mrs. Rachel CARTER, mother of Mrs. STOUT.

MRS. W. CARTER DIED AT HER HOME TODAY
Born in Indianapolis, Ind.; lived in Fairfield past 34 years

Mrs. William D. CARTER, long time resident of Fairfield, passed away at her home, 106 East Briggs street, at 12:30 a.m. today. She had been in failing health for the past several months and seriously ill since last Friday.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. at the Hoskins funeral home in charge of Rev. A. P. Keast. Burial will be in the Evergreen cemetery.

Rachel CARTER was born March 9, 1860 at Indianapolis, Ind. She had lived in Fairfield for the past 34 years having moved to this city in 1908 after retiring from a farm in Jefferson county in the Bethesda community. Her husband passed away May 2 1911.

She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge No. 96 and also of the First Methodist Church.

Mrs. CARTER is survived by the following children: C. O. CARTER, Earl, Clifford, and Mrs. May STOUT, all of Fairfield; Mrs. Stella RUSSELL, Peoria; and Harry of Burlington. One brother, Nathan OSBORN, McClouth, Kansas, 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren also survive. One daughter, Bell, died 30 years ago.

Rebekahs To Attend CARTER Last Rites

All Rebekahs are requested to meet in No. 4 Hall tomorrow afternoon July 9 at 1:30 p.m. to attend in a body, the funeral of the late Mrs. Rachael CARTER which is being held at the Hoskins Funeral Home.

A full attendance is desired.

Relatives Here For CARTER Last Rites

Among the relatives called here to attend the funeral of Mrs. Rachael CARTER held this afternoon at the Hoskins Funeral Home were the following grandchildren, Claude CARTER who came from Ottumwa where he is employed at the Naval Air Station; Pfc. Robert CARTER of Lowery Field, Denver, Colo.; Mrs. H. L. ELAND of Winfield. The ELANDs will visit a short time in the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles O. CARTER, 207 East Kirkwood St.

Others are Mrs. Irene HINES of Peoria, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Nathan OSBORN and granddaughter Thelma RIDGEWAY of McClough, Kansas, Mr. and Mrs. Harry CARTER, Mr. and Mrs. William CARTER and daughter Rosalie of Burlington; Virginia KRACAW of Richland and Staff Sgt. Harold CARTER of Camp Grant, Ill.
