"Jefferson County Republican", Nov. 6, 1903, Pg. 1, Col. 2

DEATH OF JOHN S. NOBLE. Departed this life at his late residence near Dewitt, Arkansas County, Ark., on the 26th of October, 1903.

He was born in Blair County, Penn., in 1822, on a farm now covered by the city of Altoona, where he resided until the fall of 1846, when he was married to Eliza BECK, with whom he moved to Fairfield, Iowa, and soon after he bought a farm of Joseph KNOTT, on which he lived until his departure from this county. Three children were born to them, all of whom are now living: Frank NOBLE, residing in Fairfield, Iowa; Wilson, residing at Stuttgart, Ark.; and Charles at Lamoille, state of Nevada. His wife Eliza died July 27, 1867.

He was married again to Miss Mary E. NORDYKE, and unto them were born six children, three of whom are living. In March, 1888, having sold his farm in this county, he moved with his family to the state of Arkansas. His second wife died in 1897... Since the death of his wife he has made several visits to this county, among his old friends, and to his old home; his hope and ambition was to spend the remaining years of his life here among the scenes of his earlier days... He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, and one of the main, if not the most energetic member who pushed to completion the McDowell chapel near his home in Penn Township.....
