DEATH OF MRS. PETER GOW.

Another of Fairfield's old and highly respected residents has been called away by death. At her home in this city last Friday, July 10th, occurred the death of Mrs. Peter GOW, a woman well known in Jefferson county and by everyone held in high esteem. Mrs. Janette PARKER GOW was born in Glasgow, Scotland, Oct. 14, 1818. She was therefore in her 73d year at the time of her death. In 1838 she was married to Peter GOW, also a native of Scotland. Together with her husband she came to this county in 1846, and for many years with her husband and family she lived on a farm northwest of Fairfield, moving from thence to this place. She was the mother of eight children: Francis, James, Christina, Janette, Sarah Jane, Mary M., Isabella and Anna. These are all living and are located as follows: James, the only son, lives in Carrollton, Arkansas; Francis Married W. A. MEEK and resides in Dickinson County, this state; Christina is married to George BRADFIELD and lives at Brookville, this county. The others all reside in this township. Janette is the wife of I. N. BRYANT; Sarah Jane the wife of Henry RIDER; Mary M. the wife of John BOWERMASTER; Isabella the wife of John MYERS; Anna, who lives on the home place, the wife of James B. RILEY.

For more than forty years Mrs. GOW had been a member of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian church, exemplifying in her life the faith she professed.

The great esteem in which she was held by her neighbors was testified by the large numbers both from her former home in the country and in town who attended her funeral, which took place from her late residence an (sic) Third North street Saturday, July 11th, at 2 p.m. The services were conducted by Rev. E. L. Schreiner.
