IOWA PIONEER PASSES AWAY

Mrs. Catherine RICHARDSON Died This Morning at the Home of Her Daughter

Catherine RICHARDSON passed away at 3:30 oclock this morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Henry PIERSON. She has been gradually failing for several years but has only been seriously ill for about two weeks.

Funeral services will be held from the home of her daughter, Mrs. Henry PIERSON, 105 North D street at 2 oclock tomorrow afternoon conducted by Dr. H. B. Scoles. Interment in the old family cemetery near Batavia.

Mrs. RICHARDSON, a daughter of Jacob and Sarah SNOOK was born in Richland county, Ohio, on October 1, 1839. At the age of six years she came with her parents to Iowa making the trip overland in an ox cart. She joined the Methodist church when sixteen years old and has been a faithful member ever since. She was united in marriage to Archibald RICHARDSON, who preceded her in death about 40 years, on April 19, 1861. Three children were born to this union, one son dying in infancy. She is survived by two children, a son James who lives in California and a daughter Sarah PIERSON with whom she also made her home. She also leaves two grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was a nurse in this community for forty five years, being one of the first nurses in Jefferson county.
