Jefferson County REPUBLICAN, Friday, December 16 1904, 5-2.

Rev. JOHN HORTON died at the home of his son, George, December 9 1904, aged 70-2-27.

Born Morgan Co., Ill., September 13 1834, moved with his parents, Urias and Sarah (Berry) Horton near Salina, Jefferson County, Iowa, 1839. Converted at age of 17 and afterwards entered the ministry of the M.E. Church at this place.

Married to Mrs. Almira Holloway, October 25 1877. They moved to Osborn Co., Kan., returning to Missouri in 1893.

Parents of two children, one died in infancy, leaving only one son, George, residing in Nodaway Co., Mo., and J.T. Holloway of What Cheer, Iowa.

Wife died three years ago and he had since made his home with his son, George. Last member of a family of eight children. Funeral in Mt. Pleasant; bur. Oak Grove Cemetery.
