Obituary

James SULLIVAN, whose death was announced in the Tuesday edition of this paper, was born in Spencer's Corners, New York, January 1st, 1850. He came to Fairfield with his mother in 1857. Was in the employ of the C. B. & Q. railway company for several years, and was engaged in various kinds of business for years, and was a successful business man. He was married in
October, 1877, to Miss Maggie FINLEY (sic. Margaret J. FINLEY SULLIVAN, whose maiden name in her own obituary was misattributed to "FINDLEY"), who died in the year 1888. He was again married in 1891 to Miss C. G. KILFOY
(sic. a/k/a Katherine KILFOY SULLIVAN on her headstone inscription in Evergreen cemetery, Fairfield, Iowa), who with three small children by the first marriage and one by the last, survive him. Funeral was held yesterday at the Catholic church at 10 o'clock.

* Note: These two obituaries transcribed and revised on May 27, 2012 from the original posting of May 4, 2006. I am not related to the person(s) mentioned.

** Note: James SULLIVAN was born January 1, 1850 and evidently died on December 26, 1898 per his obituaries and headstone inscription. Buried in
Evergreen cemetery, Fairfield, Iowa. SDof25-005. Evidently his DOD was attributed in a prior Evergreen cemetery transcription as being on December 25, 1898, but it appears from the two obituaries that his DOD was on December 26, 1898. //RKThompson
