Page 4, Column 2MRS. E. G. FLIGG DIES SUDDENLY
Death came suddenly early last evening to a prominent resident of Fairfield and a long-time member of the Methodist church.
She is Mrs. Edward G. FLIGG who passed away at the Jefferson county hospital at 6 p.m. Her death was caused by a cerebral hemorrhage.
Funeral services will be held a the First Methodist church Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. with Dr. L. L. Weis and Dr. M. A. Gable of Indianola in charge. Dr. Gable is a former pastor of the local church and a close friend of the FLIGG family.
Madge FLIGG, 69, was born March 12, 1882, in Fairfield and spent her entire life in this community. She was the daughter of the late Jack and Ella KING MURDOCK.
She was united in marriage to Edward F. (sic – Edward G.) FLIGG and they had planned to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary on November 27 this year.
Mr. (sic) FLIGG will long be remembered by her many friends for her untiring work as president of the Logan school P.T.A. organization which planned and completed the project to landscape and beautify the school grounds during her term of office, and for her service as treasurer of the Parsons college auxiliary for over 15 years.
She was a faithful member of the Methodist church and took an active part in its activities. She belonged to several organizations within the church as well as the Woman’s club and the Degree of Honor.
Besides her husband she is survived by two sons: Harold M. FLIGG, Kansas City, Missouri,; and E. Keith FLIGG, Ft. Dodge, Iowa.
She is also survived by two grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Midge WOODS, Denver, Colorado; and Mrs. Opal PARSONS, Fairfield; two brothers, Orin WARD, Fairfield; and Hugh WARD, Ft. Madison.
Mrs. FLIGG was preceded in death by two children, Lois and Robert.
The body is at the Hoskins funeral home and will be taken to the church at 1:30 p.m. the day of the services.

The Philathea class members of the Methodist church are requested to meet in the foyer of the church Friday afternoon at 1:45 p.m.
The group will attend the funeral services of Mrs. E. G. FLIGG, in a body.

Mr. and Mrs. Harold FLIGG of Kansas City and Mr. and Mrs. Keith FLIGG and sons Robert and Alan of Ft. Dodge returned to their homes this morning after being called here by the death of the mother, Mrs. E. G. FLIGG. Mr. FLIGG accompanied the Harold FLIGGs to spend several days.
Other out of town relatives attending the last rites yesterday afternoon at the Methorist (sic) church were Mrs. FLIGG's sister, Mrs. Lester MAXWELL and her daughter, Mrs. Frank GAGE of Davenport who will returning tomorrow after being guests in the Sam BOUGHNER home, 405 W. Hempstead street; and Mrs. W. D. BOOTH of Washington (sister of Mrs. FLIGG) who is leaving this morning after being a guest of her sister, Mrs. Opal PARSONS, 303 S. 'B' street; and Mrs. PARSONS' son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. John PARSONS of Knoxville.

Officers for the Parsons college auxiliary were elected yesterday afternoon at the final meeting of the year held in the Presbyterian church.
Mrs. H. Otis Hoover was re-elected president and Mrs. James Robertson, vice president. Mrs. J. I. Dool was named secretary to succeed Mrs. Frederic Dahl; and Mrs. J. H. Calhoun, treasurer, succeeding the late Mrs. E. G. FLIGG. It was voted to place a book in the Parsons college library in memory of Mrs. FLIGG in recognition of her 15 years of faithful service as treasurer. ...

The Home and Garden department of the Woman's club closed its year with a program tea yesterday afternoon at McElhinny house.
Librarian Mrs. Hoyt Lutes, fave an interesting talk on "Summer Reading." She mentioned the hobby section as well as new fiction and non-fiction books catalogued for easy access by readers.
A poem "Still Going On" was read by chairman Mrs. Ralph Stout, dedicated in memory of one of the prominent members of the department, Mrs. E. G. FLIGG. During the business session it was voted to accept the gift of peonies from Mrs. E. C. Bock which will be planted on the clubhouse lawn. The peonies, stated Mrs. Bock, are from the original bulbs at McElhinny house. ...
