McKinley BAILEY Dies Suddenly

David McKinley BAILEY, Beckwith, died suddenly of a heart attack about noon Friday while hunting hickory nuts near Glendale east of Fairfield.

BAILEY and Bruce Bell, Fairfield, were hunting hickory huts when their car got stuck in the mud. Bell went for help.

When he returned with a tractor, he found BAILEY on the ground beside the car. The stricken man was brought to the Jefferson County Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival at 12:30 p.m.

The body is at the Raymond Funeral Home where last rites are pending.

David McKinley BAILEY, 70, was born August 29, 1897, in Fairfield, son of James and Emmaline Barnes (sic - BLOOMFIELD) BAILEY. He was reared and educated in Fairfield.

He married Iva Mary MONTGOMERY on March 26, 1919 in Ottumwa. BAILEY was a veteran of World War I and retired C.B.& Q. employee. The family home is at Beckwith.

He was a member of the Methodist Church and the the American Legion.

In addition to his wife he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Glenn WINTERS, Ottumwa; two sons, Robert BAILEY, LeClaire, Iowa, and Richard BAILEY, Beckwith; 11 grandchildren and one great grandchild; four sisters, Mrs. Clarence BATES, Birmingham; Mrs. Mary FISHBURN, Farmington; Mrs. Gertrude ANDERSON, Salina; and Mrs. Irene CARLSON, Fairfield.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

BAILEY Funeral At 2 P.M. Today

Last rites were held at 2 p.m. today for David McKinley BAILEY, 70, who died suddenly about noon Friday while gathering hickory nuts near Glendale. The family home is at Beckwith.

The services today were held at the Raymond funeral Home with the Rev. Donald Hickman in charge. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery.

BAILEY was a veteran of World War I and a retired employe of the C.B.&Q. Railroad.
