MRS. SARAH BAILEY DIED EARLY TODAY.

Mrs. Sarah BAILEY, a well known resident of this city, passed away this morning about five thirty at the home of her grandson, Clifford BAILEY who resides east of the city. Mrs. BAILEY's death was very sudden and was due to heart trouble. She had not been in the best of health for several years, but had been feeling as well as usual and yesterday afternoon went to the home of her grandson to spent the night and today.

Mrs. BAILEY was about 75 years of age and had lived in Fairfield for about fifty years and has many friends who will regret to learn of her sudden death.

She is survived by children: James BAILEY and Mary Elizabeth, of this city; and Wilson BAILEY, of Nebraska, her husband and the following children having preceded her in death: Alexander and John C. She is also survived by one brother, David GILCHRIST of Libertyville.

The funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at two thirty from the residence on South Fifth street.

Transcriber's note: Her husband was Alexander J. BAILEY who died December 31, 1896. Both Sarah and Alexander are buried in Evergreen Cemetery. Cited from JEFFERSON COUNTY RECORDS, Vol. 11 by Orville & Mary Prill.

BAILEY

Mrs. Sarah Jane BAILEY died Friday, July 12th, at her home in this city, at the age of eighty-three years. She was the widow of the late A. J. BAILEY who died in 1895 (sic - 1896).

Mrs. BAILEY was born in Pennsylvania but came with her husband to Iowa nearly fifty years ago, settling in Fairfield in 1875, where she has since made her home. She was the mother of five children, of whom three, James B., J. Wilson and Mary Eliza, are living and residents of Fairfield. The other two children, John and Alexander, died several years ago.

Funeral services were held at the family home Monday, conducted by Rev. L. Mendenhall.
