MRS. EMMA DOUD (sic - DOWD)

Mrs. Emma DOUD, a resident of Fairfield until six years ago, died in Davenport Saturday at 9 o'clock and the body was brought here for burial in Evergreen cemetery, Monday. Rev. Fred G. Crown officiated at the services at the grave at 10 o'clock.

Seldon SMITH of Libertyville is a brother of Mrs. DOUD (sic).

Note: Buried in Lot SDiv.2-006. She was married twice; first to Lorenzo D. SHERMAN who died in 1904 and is buried in the Public Grounds section of Evergreen Cemetery; second, to James DOWD in 1906 in Wapello Co., IA. When James died and where he's buried are not known at the time of this posting; he is not noted in any Jefferson County cemetery. Although this obituary gives Emma's last name as DOUD, it is spelled DOWD on her gravestone.
