FUNERAL HELD FOR WARREN S. WILSON
Funeral services for the late Warren Seth Wilson of Glendale, Iowa were held at Pleasant Hill Chapel, Saturday afternoon, May 13, 1950 where a large group of relatives and friends had gathered to pay their respects to their good neighbor and friend. Mr. Fred Moore and Mrs. Imogene Hinkle sang two of his favorite hymns, “In the Sweet Bye and Bey” and “In the Garden”. Mrs. Ethel E. Saums from the Church of God officiated using as her text Job 14-14.
The closing song, “If We Never Meet Again” was sung by the minister after which the body was taken to its final resting place in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The pallbearers were Harold J. Davis, Merle Massey, Walter Tarman, Nick Rich, Raymond Kinney, and Robert Pfeiffer.
Warren Seth Wilson was born August 30, 1867 seven miles southeast of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa in a log cabin, the son of the late Jefferson and Lucinda Rose Wilson. He passed away about 7 P.M. Tuesday, May 9th at his home at Glendale eight miles east of Fairfield. For 53 years, he resided on the farm in Henry County where he was born. He then spent a few years in the state of Florida, returning to Jefferson County, Iowa where he resided until his death.
He was united in marriage on March 5, 1891, to Esther Ann Wickham at Mt. Pleasant. She preceded her husband in death on February 16, 1937. Also one daughter, Ruth, preceded him in death.
He was a 50 year member of the IOOF at Mt. Pleasant and the last member of a family of 12 brothers and sisters.
Warren Wilson is survived by the following children: Roy Wilson, Orlando, Florida; Mrs. Nette Gohn of Lockridge; and Helen Wilson, Lockridge; 14 grandchildren survive.
