George SCOVEL was born in the state of New York Oct. 30, 1837. While yet a boy came with his parents to West Point, Lee County, Iowa, living there until the age of 32, when he came to Libertyville. He was united in marriage to Hester A. FRY Dec. 23, 1869.

Six children, of which two are dead, Frank L., who died at the age of seven, and Loren L., who died Dec. 23, 1901. Those living are Harry L., Ira C., and Ray N., all of Libertyville, and Mrs. Lillie N. METZ of Glasgow, Iowa. Enlisted in Co. G, 4th Iowa Cavalry Dec. 24, 1861.... He died Jan. 13, 1910.... Interment in Fell Cemetery.
