BATAVIA, IOWA. Mrs. Hazel L. PUMPHREY, 72, lifetime resident of Jefferson County, died Sunday 2:30 p.m. at St. Joseph Hosptial in Ottumwa. Her home was south of Batavia. Campbell Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Fell Cemetery.

Born Oct. 16, 1893, in Jefferson County, daughter of Millard and Allie FRY TAYLOR. She was a school teacher for several years. Married Arthur PUMPHREY May 12, 1915; he died Feb. 3, 1961. She was a member of the Batavia Methodist Church.

Survived by one brother, Russell TAYLOR, Batavia, and one sister, Mrs. Fern WALTMAN, Bettendorf. One sister is deceased.
