John MYRES (sic)
was born in Green County Pennsylvania 1830; when two years old he removed with is parents to Ashland, Ohio, where he lived until manhood and in 1867 came to Jefferson County and in 1868 was married to Isabelle GOW who passed away some eleven years ago, when Mr. MYRES made his home wit his daughters, Mrs. Mary SWAIN and Mrs. Jennie JONES of this city. Mr. MYRES lived on the the (sic) farm until about sixteen years ago when they moved to this city, where he has since lived.
Ten children were born to this union, three of which died in infancy. The remaining children are, Mrs. Anna THOMAS, of Sumner Nebraska, Mrs. Sam GRAHAM, of Tonkawa, Oklahoma and Mrs. Fettie JONES. Mrs. Mary SWAIN, Effie M, Aurther H., and John Fredrick MYRES, of this city. John MYRES died at the home of his daughter at 4:30 o'clock on October 3rd, at the advanced age of 76 years. He was well known and respected by all who knew him. The funeral was held at the home Friday at 10 o'clock conducted by Rev. W. F. Jones of the Presbyterian church.
Mr. MYRE was a member of the old time Presbyterian church and always lived a consistent christian life. His body was laid to rest in the Ever green cemetery (sic - Old Fairfield City Cemetery) in the north part of the city
