PANCOAST, SLIMMER, MILLER

Joel W. PANCOAST, who died in Liberty Township on the 14th inst., had been a resident of this county since 1853.

Born in Fayette Co., Ohio, July 23, 1833, removed to Illinois in 1852 and thence to this county. During all this time he had resided in that township, generally on the home farm near Libertyville, although he had been in business in that place for several years. In Nov., 1861, he was married to Miss Nancy A. SLIMMER who died in Nov., 1864 (sic - October, 1864). Two children were born of this marriage, one of whom grew to womanhood and is now living in Illinois, the wife of Dr. J. E. MILLER.

Abour four years ago he married Lydia J. SLIMMER who survives. One child of this marriage, who is now about two years of age. Death resulted from some disease of the stomach....

Note: Buried in Fell Cemetery. Nancy and Lydia SLIMMER were sisters, both daughters of Peter & Susannah SLIMMER. Nancy is buried in Fell Cemetery with Joel, and Lydia died in 1904 at her home in Des Moines.
