Charles H. HESTON, 96, 309 S. Court St., died Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Jefferson County Hospital after a serious illness of 16 days.
A lifelong resident of this county, HESTON farmed for 45 years before moving to Fairfield 31 years ago. He is survived by 115 direct living descendants.
Services will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Weston Behner Funeral Home in charge of the Rev. Ned Gillum. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
HESTON was born April 8, 1869 in Jefferson County, the son of Mahlon and Harriett STILES HESTON. He was married to Sarah AMISS Nov. 23, 1890; she preceded him in death Feb. 14, 1955.
Surviving are five sons and four daughters: Fay HESTON, Rock Island, Ill.; William HESTON, Fairfield; LeRoy HESTON, Knoxville; Fred HESTON, Agency; Floyd HESTON, Davenport; Mrs. Nellie EATON, Davenport; Mrs. Inez BAGBY, Fairfield; Mrs. Edith CASE, Davenport; and Mrs. Viola WHITE, Rock Island, Ill.
Also surviving are 21 grand-children; 42 great-grandchildren; 43 great - great - grandchildren, and one brother, Luther HESTON, Fairfield. Three daughters, two sisters and two brothers are deceased. HESTON was a member of the Brookville Methodist church.
