He had been in failing health for some months but his closest friends did not dream that his death was so near. He was a member of the local order of the B. P. O. E. of this city, and was the first one to be called from life. A kind father, a loving husband and an upright citizen is gone and the places that have known him shall know him no more forever. How suddenly the most promising sky may be overcast with unexpected storm clouds and the last line of light fade out of the sky of life for us. How suddenly the spring flower may be smitten at the root and wither and die. How true it is, that saying of holy writ, "Thou knowest not what a day may bring forth."
