PLEASANT PLAIN.

Died--At his home in Pleasant Plain, Oct. 13th, occurred the death of W. C. DAVIS, in his 39th year, after a brief illness.

Dr. DAVIS, of Libertyville, was called here by the sickness of his brother, W. C., Friday evening. ...

W. C. DAVIS died at Pleasant Plain Saturday after a brief illness. Deceased was a son of the late Elliott DAVIS, and grew to manhood four miles north of this city. His age was 39 years, and about 18 years of his life was spent in this county. He leaves a wife, and two children by a former marriage. The funeral occurred Monday, the remains being interred in the Evergreen cemetery, this city. A wide circle of friends will regret to hear of Mr. DAVIS' death and will sorrow with his family.

PLEASANT PLAIN.

... W. C. DAVIS, whose death we reported last week, was born in West Newton, Westmoreland county, Pennsylvania, Nov. 28, 1849. In 1872 he was married to Miss Salina HUTCHINSON, and engaged in the mercantile business there. Two children, girls, were born to him. His wife died in 1880, and he then came to Iowa and resided with his father, who died two years later. Mr. DAVIS came to Pleasant Plain in 1886 and started a barber shop, and also took a local column in the Brighton "News". In 1888 he married Mrs. Fannie FURGUSSON (sic - Sarah Francis 'Fannie' CAVINESS FERGUSON) and has made his home in Pleasant Plain ever since. His remains were interred in the family lot in the Fairfield (sic - Evergreen) Cemetery Monday. He leaves a wife and other relatives to mourn his untimely death.

Note: Buried in Lot Old.P.238, without a gravestone. His second wife Sarah died November 3, 1907 in Ottawa, IL, and is buried there in the Ottawa Avenue Cemetery. She had been married three times, Wilbur S. FERGUSON being the first husband, William C. DAVIS being her second husband, and her third husband was William H. CORT.
