Bert Leroy COUSER, 75, long time resident of Fairfield, died Thurs. PM at Jefferson County Hospital. Stroke five years ago. Hoskins Funeral Home. Burial in Fell Cemetery near Libertyville.

Born Dec. 23, 1881, at Harlan, Iowa, son of the late John T. and Rachel FILLMORE COUSER. Came to this community with his parents when a small boy and spent most of his life in Jefferson County. Married, at Fairfield, Feb. 5, 1902, Ethel McCLEARY who survives. For a time he worked in the railroad shops at Burlington and also worked as a clerk in the Dunn hotel there. They returned to Fairfield 20 years ago... Family home is at 405 E. Lowe St.

Survived by wife and a daughter, Mrs. Leonard SCOVEL, Chariton; 2 grandchildren; 3 greatgrandchildren; a brother, Joe COUSER, South Dakota, and a sister, Mrs. Mary CANNON who resides in Washington State. Preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, four brothers and a sister.
