EDWARD DONALD WITTMER, long-time resident of Jefferson County and operator of the general store at Germanville for over 44 years before his retirement, died Sat. p.m. Apr. 17 at the St. Joseph Hospital in Ottumwa…Burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Fairfield. Born Oct. 1, 1890 in Noble, Iowa, a small community in Henry County, son of JOHN E. and MARIE KLEINER WITTMER…Member St. Mary Catholic Church, a 50-year member Knights of Columbus, member Holy Name Society, BPO Elks and Eagles. Survived by wife and four daughters: MRS. LAURENCE KESSEL, Coralville; MRS. CHARLES FLINSPACH, MRS. FLORENCE DICKINSON and MRS. JACK HEMM, all of Fairfield; one son, ERNEST WITTMER, Fairfield; 14 grandchildren; one sister, MRS. ELSIE STORTZ and two brothers, O. H. WITTMER and ARNOLD WITTMER, all of Fairfield.
