Page 1, Column 4Margaret (POHREN) (KASKA) HOOK, Mrs. George HOOK, 73, nee Margaret POHREN (or Magdeline POHREN), daughter of Vincent and Margaret POHREN, died Sat. morning at her home, East Pleasant Plain. First husband was Joseph KASKA. Children by former marriage: John KASKA, Vincent KASKA, and Mrs. Lillian CAVINESS of Fairfield, Iowa; Louis, Frank and Margaret KASKA of East Pleasant Plain. Two daughters, Mrs. Gertrude LAMANSKY and Anna KASKA, were burned to death ten years ago when the LAMANSKY home was destroyed by fire. Survived by 30 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jacob POHREN of Pleasant Plain and Peter POHREN of Burlington; and two sisters, Mrs. Chris MINEART of Pleasant Plain and MRS. Emma FRITZ of Fairfield…Burial at St. Joseph’s.

Special to The Hawk-Eye.Brighton, Ia., Nov. 8 -- Mrs. George HOOK died this Saturday morning about 6 o'clock at her home in East Pleasant Plain after an illness of thee years. Her maiden name was Magdeline POHREN, and she was the daughter of Vincent and Margaret POHREN. She was 73 years of age. She is survived by her husband, George HOOK, and the following children, John KASKA, Vincent KASKA and Mrs. Lillian CAVINESS of Fairfield; Louis, Frank and Margaret KASKA of East Pleasant Plain. Two daughters, Mrs. Gertrude LAMANSKY and Anna KASKA died about ten years ago, being burned to death with the LAMANSKY home was destroyed by fire. Mrs. HOOK's first husband was Joseph KASKA. She is also survied (sic) by 30 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jacob POHREN of Pleasant Plain and Peter POHREN of Burlington, and two sisters, Mrs. Chris MINEART of Pleasant Plain and Mrs. Emma FRITZ of this place.
Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 9:30 o'clock at the St. Joseph's church at Pleasant Plain with Rev. Sendbuehler in charge.

The funeral of Mrs. Magdeline HOOK was held at the St. Joseph's Catholic church in Pleasant Plain Monday morning at 9:30 o'clock, in charge of Rev. Sendbuehler. Mrs. HOOK was 73 years of age. She passed away at her home in Pleasant Plain Saturday morning, November 8, about 6 o'clock, after a three-year illness.
She leaves her husband, George HOOK, and the following children: John and Vincent KASKA and Mrs. Lillian CAVINESS of Fairfield; Louis, Frank and Margaret of East Pleasant Plain.
