John B. WHITMORE, 74, died at Jefferson County Hospital Wed. Campbell Funeral Home. Burial in Batavia Cemetery.

Born June 2, 1897, in Jefferson County, son of Frank and Rebecca CURRAY WHITMORE and spent all of his life in the Batavia community and farmed for 30 years. Member Gospel Lighthouse Church and Masonic Lodge of Batavia; married Marie McCARROLL March 19, 1927, and she survives along with two daughters and four sons: Mrs. Floyd DAILEY, Ottumwa; Mrs. Charles CARY, Batavia; Marvin WHITMORE, Batavia; Melvin of Fairfield; Merrill of McMinnville, Tenn., and Calvin of Fairfield; 16 grandchildren and one brother, Will WHITMORE of Fairfield, and one sister, May WHITMORE of Batavia. Two sisters and one brother preceded him in death.
