MRS. JOSEPH (EMMA KURTZ) BENDA died early this morning at her home near East Pleasant Plain. Cancer of the liver. Eldest daughter of JOSEPH and BERTHA KURTZ, born near Germanville Jan. 9, 1870; married June 2, 1896. Husband died Dec. 29, 1921. Eight children: FRANCIS, CLEMENT, LEO, ALBERT, MAX, MARY, JOSEPH and BERTHA, all residing near East Pleasant Plain. She also leaves five brothers and two sisters; EDWARD KURTZ of Omaha, Neb.; JOHN KURTZ of Brighton; MARTIN L. KURTZ of Fairfield; WALTER KURTZ and JOSEPH T. KURTZ of East Pleasant Plain, MRS. VINCENT KASKA of Fairfield, and MRS. WM. SPINKHARNEY of Cherokee. She was a devout member of the Catholic church.
