Forest R. WELCH, 64, 1111 S. Fifth St., died at 10:28 a.m. today at Jefferson County Hospital. A retired employee of the city water dept., he had been seriously ill since July 4. WELCH had been a resident of Fairfield for 15 years.

Born May 22, 1901, in York Co., Nebr., son of Newton and Lorena KIAGHIN WELCH. Reared and educated in Batavia. Married Ruth SCHAUFF May 5, 1920. Member Christian Church.

Survived by wife and children: Raymond WELCH, Davenport; Mrs. Everett DAY, Batavia; Mrs. Chester PAXTON, Webster City; Mrs. William PENN, Moline, Ill.; Mrs. Ralph LOFTS, Pittsburg, Kan.; and Mrs. Melvin CRABLE, Milan, Ill.; 23 grandchildren; 8 grgrchn, and brother and sisters: Henry WELCH, Minneapolis, Minn.; Mrs. Porter HANSOCK, Dallas, Tex.; Mrs. Wayne HAMILTON, Pleasant Plain; Mrs. Burley WRIGHT, Farson; and Mrs. George WELDING, Sioux City. One grandchild preceded him in death.
