"Fairfield Ledger", Wed., Sept. 27, 1882, Pg. 3, Col. 5

Wm. HOWELL of Batavia, who has recently been in Dakota, gives a glowing account of the prospects there for land settlers.

[Transcriber's note: "Dakota" encompassed present-day North and South Dakota, and parts of present-day Montana and Wyoming, in one territory, recognized as such in March, 1861. The territory was reduced in size to present-day Dakotas boundaries in 1863. In November, 1889, the territory divided into the states of North and South Dakota.]

*Transcribed for genealogy purposes; I have no relation to the person(s).
