We had a pleasant call Saturday from Mr. G. W. TROY, of Batavia. Mr. Troy is now one of the oldest inhabitants of the county, having come here in the spring of 1836 – 44 years ago. He sold the first goods ever sold in this place, having hauled them from Burlington. He also built the first log cabin on the ground where Fairfield is now located, and was a member of the first petit jury. He is now an old man of 75 years and is fast losing his eyesight.
