Jefferson County Affidavit Book #1, p. 307. M. B. SPARKS to the Public, 21 Nov 1911..... "Do say that I am 73 years of age; reside in Batavia, and have practically resided there for 45 years and over.... One Henry CREESE once owned considerable land in what is now the Town of Batavia.... the name of said Henry CREESE appears upon the land records of Jefferson County spelled in various ways, such as CREESE, CREES, CREASE, CREESS...."
