NINETEEN WAR VETERANS IN LOCKRIDGE CEMETERY
Nineteen graves were decorated Memorial day as part of the observation in Lockridge.
The Times is indebted to Fred Graff for the list of names of the veterans who are buried in the Lockridge cemetery. Of the two soldiers of the War of 1812, Mr. Graff said:
"One of the veterans, a Mr. Waggle, is buried in an unknown spot. His initials are not known, neither do we know the date of his birth or death. His widow lived in a little house which stood just west off of the present Sunshine service station. It was replaced by the house occupied by the Larson family in later years. Mrs. Waggle made her home with the Levi Clark family until her age and blindness made it necessary to remove her to the county farm.
The second veteran of 1812 was John Toothaker. He built and occupied the house which is now the Graff home."
It would be interesting for some one who knows, to take the following list of names and write a short history about each one. The columns of this paper are always open, and we believe the community would enjoy reading about their early lives.
The list of veterans who are buried in the local cemetery, together with the date of their birth and death, when known, are:
