REUNIONS

BARROW

Descendants of Louis and Laura BOOTH BARROW of Fairfield, held their second BARROW Extended Family Reunion during a recent weekend at the Red Fox Lodging Company and Van Buren County Conservation shelter on Lake Sugema outside of Keosauqua.

Louis BARROW was born in 1863 in Maidenstone, England. Laura BOOTH was born in 1862 in Bureau, Illinois. They were married in 1891 and had one surviving son, Charles BARROW.

Charles BARROW married Adaline McCARTY. Their children were: Charles Jr., Velma, Roy, and Louie BARROW.

The event started Friday with family visiting Memorial Lawn and Evergreen cemeteries in Fairfield, then on to Middletown to see the American Ordinance Memorial. Roy E. BARROW died from injuries following an explosion at the plant in June 1958.

Family members staying at the cabins were: Staysha and Chris GROSS of Laramie, Wyoming; Dione SMITH with Zack and Jakeb of Rapid City, South Dakota; Arlys and Deano BARROW, Marlene and Don BARROW, all of Watertown, South Dakota; Heath BARROW with Joseph, David, Hannah, and Elizabeth of Mt. Vernon; April and James GENTRY, Preston and Payton of Douds; Joanna and JoeJoe HECKETHORN and Anna BEEBE of Stockport; and Gianna and Roy BARROW of Bonaparte.

Saturday, other area family and friends gathered for the day including: Deb and Carl PHIPPS of Ottumwa, Barb FILSON of Birmingham, Barb and Ben MORRIS of Keosauqua, Callum BEEBE of Stockport, and Lena HEWITT of Birmingham.

Following a day of family fun, food, and activities, the night was capped off with an outdoor theater movie.

After breakfast Sunday, the families headed home with plans for the next reunion in two years in Rapid City, South Dakota.

The first reunion was held two years ago in Watertown, South Dakota.
