PARRETT THURSTON writes, donates book

Dawn PARRETT THURSTON, a descendant of early Jefferson County settlers, has published a family history that provides a snapshot of the county in the mid-19th century.

"The Parrett Migration" tells the story of the PARRETT family, who settled in Locust Grove Township in 1850 and became involved in the Batavia Masonic Lodge, Cross Lanes Methodist Church and sent several sons to fight in the Civil War.

THURSTON placed her 344-page book in the Fairfield Public Library to thank the librarians and Verda Baird for their research help.

Susan Rubis found the book at the library and discover her family currently owns the land that comprised part of the original PARRETT farm.

THURSTON has taught family history writing in Southern California for the last two decades.
