Reunions

FHS CLASS OF 1952

To celebrate their Fairfield High School graduation 60 years ago, 43 members and spouses met Sept. 1 at the McElhinny House.

Ninety-one graduated in 1952; 27 are known to be deceased.

The group gathered at the home of Ray and Letha GOEHRING Aug. 31 for a picnic.

The morning of Sept. 1, they met at AmericInn, then toured the high school building and learned of future plans. They viewed the Wall of Honor and hope to see some of their classmates featured in the future. The group toured the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center and visited the Maasdam Barns in the afternoon.

A class photo was taken before the evening meal at the McElhinny House. Roll call from the graduation list was held and information given about absentees; several of these were sent from the members. Memorabilia was shared and messages from absentees were given.

Many in the group correspond on a class website created by their late classmate Jim KASKA. Eight thousand messages have been on the site in 10 years.

Fairfield members were Dixie BLAIR RUGGLES, Tom and Pat SHEETS FUNKHOUSER, Ray and Letha GOEHRING and Wendall and Shirley DuBOISE KING. The three couples were the planning committee. The class meets at 8 a.m. the first Wednesday of each month for breakfast at Fairfield Hy-Vee Food and Drug Store.
